Claire Symons
Claire admits she never was an active person until she became an adult.
Married young, and a mother of 3 children aged 12, 8 and 3, Claire has been focused on everyone except herself when it came to health and fitness. After peaking at over 90kgs after her second child, Claire turned to a personal trainer and asked for help.
“The changes to my life were unbelievable. I had more energy, I felt alive and as my weight reduced and I toned up, my self-confidence increased considerably.” In addition to this, when Claire had her third child, being fitter and healthier made such a difference to her pregnancy and how quickly she bounded back after the birth.
With all these experiences fresh in her mind, Claire turned to studying with the Auckland University of Technology and became a qualified personal trainer. After qualifying, Claire focused on group training health classes for pregnant mothers-to-be that involves Swiss ball exercises specifically designed to be done throughout the pregnancy.
Claire is also a foodie. With a passion for catering and food preparation, finding a nutritional balance between tasty food and what’s good for you has been a tough ordeal but Claire has some great advice on how to manage or overcome those cravings. She admits, this is her own constant struggle but has creative ways of winning the battle and creating sustainable eating plans.
